Coyotes thrive in urban areas such as Silicon Valley. Here, we use sightings to help us identify local coyote territories. This map can assist with wildlife management.

Sightings have been sourced from social media, iNaturalist, Santa Clara County Vector Control, and our Google Form.

Please not that not all sightings have precisely accurate locations and dates.

The numbers on each sighting are the date that the sighting occurred.

The outlined figures are estimates of each coyote territory. Each coyote territory is home to one family, typically consisting of around 3-6 coyotes.

Some territories have colored pins - each color codes for an individual coyote. We are able to track individuals when we have multiple photos of them.
